Saying what their itching ears want to hear...

I read this article before going to bed. When I woke up this morning I was depressed. At first I didn't know why. But then I realized this was the last thing I thought about before going to sleep.

God has called me to preach the Word. To proclaim truth, and to preach the message of Jesus Christ's death and resurrection. I am to do this during a time when men do not put up with sound doctrine. Instead to suit their own desires they gather teachers who will say what their itching ears want to hear.

Dr. Pagels might find greater acceptance for her words than I ever will in SF. However I would rather preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and possibly save some, than teach lies and be held accountable for leading many into error.

"Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. " James 3:1

I guess if anything I am thankful that I am not at Princeton.

i think that's some of the worst photoshop work i've ever seen on a portrait. her hair looks like it's barely attached to her head and i can't fathom how wrinkly she must be to have that much blur on her face. ick. and she's an idiot.

I'd like to hear some of your thoughts on the specifics of this article. There are a number of things that Evangelicals with any sense of orthodoxy might find objectionable. Was there any one thing that you found objectionable?

I find it completely objectionable to compare a third century annon text to the biblical witness - pseudopigrapha written by gnostics who never spent any time near jesus or the apostles has never held merit and never will. I am ashamed to hear pagels call herself a christian - the Just God I serve is not found in a heretical episcopal american church!
