So not stoked that summer is almost over.....

Mostly because I will not have as much leisure to read those books that I actually am excited about, but will instead be force fed a bunch of crock. I know that sounds incredibly stupid. You might be thinking well Andy why are you there at Dallas Seminary, why complete the ThM if you do not like your classes, and disagree with much of the scholarship? The answer, because I believe that God has placed me at DTS for a yet to be determined purpose.

He has given Whitney and I a life in Dallas that has been a blessing in more ways than I can count. (As a tea leaf reader circumstances are rather important when seeking assurance that one is doing what one is supposed to be doing with their life) I know that what I am learning will be useful in my future ministry if nothing less than enabling me to be more articulate in my dissent.

I have particularly enjoyed reading the work of NT Wright, Surprised by Hope, The NTPG, and most recently Jesus and the Victory of God. Much of my assigned reading at the Seminary seriously puts me to sleep, and can be irritating whereas reading the Bishop gets me stoked, really stoked, like stoked to the point of wanting to look into moving to England for a season possibly pursuing a PhD while getting as much time as possible with this man. A total pipe dream but I think we need pipe dreams to help us to cope with life's mundanity.

Andy, I stumbled on your blog a while back. Was wondering how you are enjoying DTS and if you plan on being in the East Bay again. We just moved to East Oakland and love it. Glad to see you enjoy N.T. Wright. I absolutely love his stuff. A couple of my buddies got to hang out with him in the Bahamas recently and I was incredibly jealous. Peace

Nate-
Always good to hear from the Bay. Lord willing Whitney and I will be returning there for some form of ministry in 2010. I hadn't checked your blog in a while, what a beautiful family! So cool that you like OAK so far. Awesome whether, eclectic community and tons of ministry opps. To say that I am slightly jealous would be an understatement.
