Ryan and Amy let us borrow some of their DVD's, one of them was Gladiator. When this film was in theatre I paid to see it 7 times. I have rented it or watched it countless times since. Every time not only do I get incredibly stoked, I cry. I love this film and its portrayal of the great man.
Watching it this time I was particularly stuck by its portrayal of death. The message being that death is inevitable for every man. Yet each man can choose how he will meet his death, either with strength and honor or as a coward. Finally our death will not come until we have fulfilled the purpose for which we have been placed here. What we do in this life prior to our death will matter in eternity. Wow. May I meet my death with strength and honor and may I fulfill that purpose for which I have been given breath.

as Skirnir said during his journey to woo the giantess Gerd on behalf of his master Freyr, "Fearlessness is better than a faint-heart for any man who puts his nose out of doors. The length of my life and the day of my death were fated long ago."
Enough talk of death!! Gimme a break!
Everybody dies! It's the talk of death that is actually motivating us to live with purpose today... it's a good thing : ) Go watch Gladiator again it's worth it. "But not yet..."
