I am here because 8 years ago God made known to me that He had created me to preach the Bible in an age in which men would not listen to sound doctrine (or exposition of the truth of scripture). Instead to suit their own desires they would gather around teachers who would tell them the things that they want to hear.
What this suggests is that I will likely be preaching to people who do not want to hear what I have to say. In fact it is very likely that the things I say will make them angry. Part of my calling is to endure hardship. This is deffinitely not part of the general job description of ministry today. The goal for most is to tell them what they want to hear and get paid. You tickle their ears and they will pad your pockets.
I deffinitely do not have anything new to say. I just believe that as I follow Jesus, and He opens my mouth, I will probably end up enduring hardship and facing opposition.
Right now I am reminded of the Gorillaz song with the refrain.."are we the last living souls".......
If we are it is important that we check our lamps and make sure they are lit and make sure they have plenty of oil, and their wicks will not run out, so that when He comes again we are ready.
As I typed that last line the monthly testing of the Tornado warning system rang out across Dallas, creepy!
