Battle Cry

After reading this I was struck by a few things. I can understand the heart behind ministries such as this. I remember watching the documentary Mechants of Cool at SFSU and realizing that our society is saturated with media that destroys our soul. But after thinking about the Battle Cry ministry I have concluded that their battle plan is fatally flawed.

Our battle is not against flesh and blood but against the spiritual forces of evil. How then can we think that using their same means will have any lasting results? Going head to head with MTV no Christian media can ever compete nor should we even attempt to.

When Christ came there were amphitheatres that he could have gathered large crowds to in order to better communicate his message. Instead he spent the majority of his time teaching on the hillside, in the villager's house and by the lake shore.

"Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit says the Lord"

Spiritual battles can only be won with spiritual means. Until we have enough faith and guts to believe that prayer is powerful enough to break down strongholds we will not be effective. And in the mean time, if we get duped into placing our trust in the weapons of this world the battle is already lost.
