For some reason I am being kept from titling this post. That doesn't really matter. I haven't posted in a while. I really don't feel like I have much to say. Things are going well here in Texas. We have been absolutely soaked with rain everyday for the past 2 months. Everyday there is some kind of precipitation. Kinda cool, but not enough boom boom, or lightning. Last Sunday we had a pretty powerful storm with the kind of thunder that makes your ears ring and sets off car alarms.
Whitney and I have had a pretty interesting opportunity presented to us for ministry. There is a children's ministry program called Awana that a lot of churches run as a mid week program. The church that we have been attending needs new leaders for their Awana. They have presented the opportunity to Whitney and I. We have been praying for an opportunity to serve in ministry, specifically for a part time church position that would enable me to reduce my hours at WFM while giving us something to do in ministry. Leading the Awana is a critical piece of the Children's program at our church so it would be a good way to get established in our church, and could lead to other opportunities for ministry.
Something that we like is that they have pursued us. This is not something that we have had to try and make happen. It is intimidating because its a pretty serious semi-complex program and we would be accountable for its success. However, if it is something that is from the Lord then it is also something that He will enable us to do. I love it because I am pretty sure that I have said in the past that there is no way that I would do children's ministry. BAAHAHAHAHAHA! I like that some of my heroes also started by ministering to children, Moody, Spurgeon to name a few. And they say that if you can teach a child about God then you will be well on your way to being able to teach adults as well. No commitment yet, just the opportunity.
