An animal that I respect..the poison dart frog. Had lunch with Francesco on Monday. He reminded me that the only difference between our scholarship and that of any other discipline is that our study should always be guided by the Holy Spirit. It is our conviction, born out of our personal interaction with the Bible, that should be starting point for our study of any text. Then later in the week I read Genesis 24:63 where Isaac goes out into a field in the evening to meditate. It is this that I am seriously lacking, and without it my study can often be incredibly draining and discombobulating. I hope to somehow carve time into my life, like Isaac, for what John Andersen used to call sabbath.
