Like bread at the collisuem..

Hi! My name is William J. Lynn nominee for Deputy Defense Secretary and a lobbyist for Raytheon a major defense contractor. I know that the President signed an executive order regarding not allowing lobbyists to serve in a department of an administration for which they lobbied, but my excellence and qualifications exempt me. Isn't that cool?

When the President signed his initial executive orders it reminded me of Caesar throwing free bread to the people during gladiatorial tournaments. The "highest ethical standards ever set" and yet violated at the time of signing. Just like they will only use the Army field manual for interrogation except when expedient not to.

Every presidential promise has many caveats to it and no matter how he tries to carry it out, he will keep the promise in some way and break it in others. Life is so complicated! Right now the whole world thinks Mr. Obama is going to do exactly what they want him to do. From Palestinians who expect to be given land in Israel to Argentinians who expect to emigrate here without restrictions. Pakistanis expect him to act like a good African Muslim and African Americans expect him to act like a good Christian. He is a global Rhorschach test--people see what they want to see. None of us really knows who he will be yet. "You can vote however you want".
