Went to Starbucks this morning and the sleeve on my coffee was patriotic. Interestingly the quote emblazoned on the sleeve was a quote from Ronald Reagan. One of the most conservative politicians, indeed the father of modern conservative politics in America and these were his words..."My fellow citizens, our nation is poised for greatness. We must do what we know is right and do it with all of our might. Let history say of us, 'Those were golden years- when the American Revolution was reborn, when freedom gained new life, when America reached for her best.'" The more things change the more they stay the same. The best part about Obama is that he has the same capacity as Reagan to make our nation feel good about itself and that gives me hope that we are in for some very cool things.
My friend Brad said it best on his facebook when he said that he was "looking forward to the day when we realize they need us more than we need them."
